How a mandate runs

  1. 01

    Confidential inquiry

You describe the work and the concern. We read every inquiry personally and answer only those we can genuinely help.

  2. 02

    Examination

Technical photography, microscopy and multispectral imaging as required, followed by a written condition report.

  3. 03

    Specialist proposal

The right specialist prepares a treatment proposal setting out the scope, method and duration — agreed before any work begins.

  4. 04

    Treatment and return

Conservation carried out and documented step by step, then insured transport back, or storage with us for as long as you wish.

Everything around the treatment

A major painting rarely just needs a conservator. The whole chain around the treatment is coordinated by the same team.

  • 01Insured collection and delivery through specialised fine art carriers
  • 02Climate-controlled, alarm-monitored storage before, during and after treatment
  • 03Condition reports and documentation usable for insurance and estate purposes
  • 04Provenance research, valuation and sale advice when the work is later placed

Frequently asked

Which works do you take on?
Paintings and their frames where the value, the artist or the condition justifies a fully documented conservation approach — typically Impressionist, Modern and Post-War works held by private collectors, family estates, foundations, galleries and institutions.
What does a restoration cost?
It depends entirely on the work: its size, support, condition, the extent of earlier interventions and the scope agreed. A cost is only quoted after examination, and never as a range before we have seen the painting.
How long does it take?
From a few weeks for a limited surface treatment to several months for structural work. The duration is fixed in the treatment proposal before we begin.
Is the work insured while it is with you?
Transport is covered by appropriate transport insurance and the work is held in monitored, climate-controlled storage. Insurance arrangements are confirmed in writing for each mandate.
How discreet is the process?
Entirely. We do not publish treated works, we do not name owners, and viewings or access take place only by prior arrangement.
